Overview
As a remote employee outside of Canada you are entitled and encouraged to join our SafetyWing insurance policy! We did our best to find a plan that is as comprehensive as our core Canadian insurance plan, and we hope you find many benefits with this one! We signed onto this plan in the early stages of its journey and as more companies sign up they will be able to offer more comprehensive plans that are even more aligned with our Canadian one.
What’s Covered?
This policy covers dental care, eye care, outpatient services, as well as inpatient, and travel! There are some new offerings and additions in 2023 and you can see all those bolded below.
Here are some specifics about what you can expect from the plan:
- $0 ****Deductible for outpatient care.
- $5000 ****of coverage with no co-pay for prescriptions, physiotherapy, doctor's appointments, chiropractic care, acupuncture, etc. (This is $5000 total for these services, not each.)
- Up to 10 sessions of mental health therapy (as part of the $5000 maximum)
- Outpatient services/receive outpatient care without a referral from a doctor
- $1,500,000 of inpatient care in a hospital setting. Any instance of inpatient care is covered 100% up to $1,500,000. This is available worldwide (aka: travel insurance)
- $500 for screenings and vaccines for things like routine health checks
- $1500 for dental coverage for routine check ups, cleanings, fillings, etc.
- $500 for vision care
- Exams, lens enhancements, & contact lenses once every 12 months
- New frames every 24 months
- A Health Care Spending Account (HCSA). You get $250 per year for any medical expenses not covered by our SafetyWing plan!
- And finally, we have a Lifestyle Spending Account (LSA). You get $100 per year and this can be used to submit a whole variety of things such as travel expenses, fitness tracker watches, home renovations, fitness/sporting equipment, and much much much more!
